EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE January 6, 2010 D. Blankenship (The Ozarks) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What can you say about most crow calls other than the fact they either work or do not work? This Lowman happens to be one that works and is extremely effective. Depending on they type of blind you are using and gear you are wearing, you can bring them in to a matter of a few swooping feet.
I have use, on a regular basis, an old Otis for over 55 years now...I still have two of them and they are still on my lanyard. This Lohman though is just as effective. I have the best luck under most circumstances with the mob or riot mode. I will say that twice I have called in coyotes in the late evening when I used the baby in distress call, but I suspect in both cases I hand an encounter with two particularly stupid animals.
This model takes very little practice and one need only to know a bit of crow behavior.
Now I no longer hunt and I certainly do not hunt crow believing in not killing what you do not plan to eat and besides, with calls such as this the "sporting" aspect is simply nil...good grief, you could almost knock them out of the air with a handful of rocks. But that being said, I am into birding and it is simply fun to bring them into the blind and watch them fuss a bit. The grandkids get a kick out of it.
This does compare favorably with the Faulk's, and old Otis and is a lot easier on the throat than calling without a call; which is a real consideration as you get older. Do take care and keep the "reed" portion of the call clean and free from clutter and dirt.
The price here is about right and if you do not count the shipping, is quite reasonable.

A friend asked me to find these Hunting Calls for him and I was lucky enough to find them with Amazon so ordered them for him. I have difficulty in rating them.
